Just returned from Braemar; coach driver, Tony, fab, everything fine for the money BUT the feeder driver who collected us (late) from Moffat wasn`t safe to be on the roads! We all decided it would be safer if one of us took over the driving!! He was either very tired or ill! When I rang to mention it to Urquharts there response was that they do not employ any drivers so didn`t really care. surely they have a duty of responsibility to their passengers?...

Yesterday my wife and I returned from a 4 day 3 night new year break at the Jurys inn, Plymouth with David Urquart Travel. In past trips with his company we have been more than satisfied with the whole trip, but on this occasion much was lacking. It was after all advertised as a \"Festive Break\" However there was little if anything festive about it. No entertainment planned: a DJ laid on at the last minute on New Years Eve after pressure from the coach partie(S)staying there. No festive decorations. In fairness to the hotel staff they had no idea what was required as no one had told them, and what they did do on the spur of the moment was appreciated by the majority of the coach party. However why that type of hotel was picked is hard to understsnd, it is designed for the passing traveller. Good clean rooms but with very limited storage, suitable for an overnight stay only in my opinion, A very limited bar area, and whilst one expects to pay a hotel drink price, £3-45p for a pint of beer, for example, one doesn\'t expect to be charged £3-00 for a 1 pint bottle of water. All in all a very disappointing break for the price. I will delve further afield in future and investigate the holiday/break content in more detail. How hotels are chosen I don\'t know, but obviously some one hadn\'t done their homework in ,either the type of Hotel chosen or what was required to be delivered....

to-day 09 Nov 2009 we arrived home from a very enjoyable tour to Llandudno (Sea Clyffe Hotel) every thing about it was great EXCEPT when we were on the last eight miles to home i inquired of our driver if he could drop us off on the main road near to the road junction for our home, he agreed but while getting our two small bags of the coach started to give us abuse about it saying that it was good manners to \"give a tip to a driver who had been good enough to take us to our home\" we still had a quarter mile to go, my wife was just getting some cash out of her handbag for this but put it back when he started to give us abuse.he then closed the door on us still mouthing off.. Urquhart travel were not in any way to blame for this action. but we would be wary off travelling with the firm who own the coach who are ALS Coaches, Birkenhead ,Mersey side...

Just had 5 days at the Mackays Hotel in Strathpeffer and cannot fault anything. From the moment of departure the Drive was soo friendly and helpfull (both myself and my Mother are disabled)during on and off the coach and to all the excursions pointing out the best ways to go. The Hotel was wonderful too from the food, swimming pool, and the entertainment. We have travelled all over ther U.K. with Urquhart Travel 2 - 3 trips a year for the past 12 years and every place has been wonderful. We hope to continue in the future. ...

Myself, husband, daughter and son-in-law took the 4 country tour in September 08, the hotels we stayed in overnight treated us as though we were second class citizens the receptionist in the German hotel actually threw keys at me and told me to distribute the. The actual hotel in Serfhaus was pleasant with nice food but as it was in the middle of a building site with lorries fleeing around and up a very steep hill this made the walk to and from the hotel dangerous and too hard. As the bus party consisted of elderly and passengers with walking difficulties, it would have been more beneficial to be in the sister hotel in the middle of the town. As for the sightseeing that was a laugh because the bus driver \"Bob\" made sure that every place we went to was closed for lunch, just so he could lie longer in his bed and be home early for dinner, the only night entertainment arranged was meant to be a Tyrolean night one night and it was cancelled. I also considered it dangerous that Bob had passengers telling him if the road was clear as we went to and from Serfhaus round hairpin bends, particularly as I\'m not a driver and was one of the passengers he asked. There should have been a co-driver or courier to help with this sort of thing....

Disagree about Hotel France.Paris Staff were as friendly as you find any French person. They are an insular people, who will communicate if you try hard enough! DId you attempt poor ffrench? They appreciate that! Hotel was clean, comfy and in good repair! Shabby chic maybe, but its French! Local area fine, with loads of wee cafes to explore. Get a life! and vive la difference! What to do you expect for £200 these days?!! ...

We have used David Urquhart Travel Company several times over the last 10 years and not found the need to complain. However, on this occasion we feel the need to complain. We planned a celebratary year for our 40th wedding anniversary and both reaching the age of 60 on various dates. One of the celebrations was we wanted our son and grandson to experience the delights of a \'coach trip\' with David Urquhart Travel, and introduce them to the wonders of Scotland at the same time by taking them to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which we have visited on two previous occasions with David Urquhart. However, the only draw back on this trip was the coach itself, which was provided by Aintree Coach Line. This was due to the fact that the air conditioning did not work properley. We had the noise as if it was working, (which wasn\'t very pleasant in the circumstances, as it left us feeling unwell with heat exhaustion), without the benefit of the cool air. Other passengers also complained regarding the air conditioning. When we asked the driver to check on this, he said it was probably due to the air conditioning needing a service and the coach being full, causing more heat than usual. (poor excuse). This was also prolonged because the driver didn\'t know where he was going and therefore extended the journey. We realise this was not really his fault because he had not been before, he did ask directions on a few occasions. Added to this discomfort was the fact that there was no toilet facility on the coach. We think that David Urquhart should seriously consider which coach company they hire in the future and the condition of such coaches, as we spend a lot of time on them. Disappointed with coach Mrs C A Green, Manchester ...

I recently travelled with David Urquhart to France staying at the France Hotel. On arrival we were given our key to our room. The room was very disappointing. The carpet on the floor must have been about 20 years old and was absolutely filthy and full of stains. The beds were clean but uncomfortable. The furniture was falling to pieces with handles missing and the lamp shades were all marked. The carpets on the stairs were thread bare. There were no tea making facilities and the breakfast was only tea/coffee bread and pastry. The other tour operators and guests staying at the hotel were given cereal and orange juice. The staff were anything but friendly and the location of the hotel was dodgy with nothing to do when you got home at night. The only thing that was good about this holiday was the driver on the bus, but he didnt even work for David Urquhart he was hired from another tour company. Poor show David Urquhart no wonder your profits are down. If you want to know more please get in touch....
